Snowshoe Rentals

How to rent: 
 Visit the recreation office anytime between 10am-2pm Monday-Friday.  Appointments can be made outside of those hours by calling 802-878-1376 or emailing recreation@essex.org.

A rental form must be completed prior to equipment use. This form will require the rental dates (multiple days are permitted) and credit card information for destroyed, lost, or unreturned equipment. Card information will be destroyed upon return of equipment in satisfactory condition.

Take advantage of free snowshoe rentals at Maple Street Park! Thanks to a grant from the Vermont Governor's Council on Physical Fitness & Sports EJRP was able to purchase  a variety of snowshoes. Snowshoes make winter more fun by allowing you to walk on snow covered trails & roads. Snowshoes are available at the recreation office at 75 Maple Street Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm. Snowshoes may be used both on and off the property and our variety of adult and kids sizes allow for everyone in the family to get a pair. We also have trekking poles available.

Rental Policies

  1. There is no charge to borrow equipment if it is returned on time.
  2. Equipment must return in the same condition that it was in when borrowed (normal wear and tear excepted).
  3. If borrowed equipment is lost or destroyed the user must replace the equipment at their own expense.
  4. Snowshoes are only to be used on snow.
  5. Snowshoes should be removed before walking on bare roads or areas that are sandy, rocky or laden with gravel.
  6. Charge for lost, damaged, or unreturned equipment:
    1. Adult snowshoes: $110.00/pair
    2. Child snowshoes: $85.00/pair
    3. Trekking poles: $75.00/pair
  7. Rentals are available to Residents of Essex only.
